Here is what Deepa Narula, former lecturer has to say on why she made the switch to real estate: My journey from being an educationist at Delhi University to becoming a Realtor with the Toronto Real Estate Board! We had been investing in real estate almost ever since we became landed immigrants in Canada in 2004 and bought our first condo in Toronto. Gradually we discovered firsthand and from personal experience the truth of the statement that investing in real estate is a good way to leverage, build equity as well as a passive stream of rental income and a good way to build one’s net worth. So, we booked a few pre-construction condos in downtown Toronto, Liberty Village etc. We also diversified our portfolio by investing in a freehold detached home for rental purpose. Not only were we able to leverage the equity we built up gradually, there was substantial appreciation when we sold them. Being a forever student who loves to learn new things, I studied the courses to become a professional realtor. As I have a researcher’s background, my forte is meticulous attention to details of real estate, market analysis, trends and exploring the beautiful and diverse neighbourhoods and communities of my adoptive land. When I showed up for my first real estate class and the instructor asked me my previous profession, I told him it was teaching and he said that a realtor’s role is very much that of an educator: educating buyers and sellers as they conduct this important transaction.
I am an Electronics Engineer by professional background working in the Healthcare industry for over 25 years. I moved to Canada in 2000 and was very fortunate to land a job in my field immediately, a job that led me to travel to all the lower provinces (except Manitoba) in my first seven months. After that I was transferred to the beautiful east coast covering all the provinces by staying in Saint John, NB. This was the best experience of my life. Coming from a very fast paced life in Delhi, the east coast gave me a sense of calmness and patience. I moved back to GTA in 2003 and managed all the downtown core for a few years and now Hamilton region for my company. I love to travel and whenever I get a chance, my bags are packed quickly and off I go ! Like most Punjabis, I was also born and brought up in a farming community and have innate love for land. I am an avid cottager, maintaining and developing our cottage and land near Tobermory. We enjoy the beautiful Bruce Peninsula and its serenity year-round (summer & winter). I am very hands on having a common sense and down to earth approach, knowledgeable as well as practical.
